The end of the year has a series of holidays lined up, giving people enough time to take a step back from the hustle-bustle of daily life and go on a vacation to a foreign country. This is usually the best time for people to live their travel dreams and satisfy their wanderlust. For the year-end, Singaporeans choose destinations like Bali (Indonesia), Tokyo (Japan) and Bangkok (Thailand) to end the year with a bang.
Top 5 year-end destinations for Singaporeans:
In a list of top year-end destinations for Singapore travellers, Bangkok has taken the first position with Tokyo taking the second place and Bali the third. The fourth and fifth positions are Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Seoul (South Korea) respectively, making these cities the top five destinations that Singaporeans choose for their holidays. This list is based on accommodation search data for December 2022 and February 2023 from Expedia (a travel booking platform), reported by The Strait Times.
Singapore Airlines and Scoot, its low-cost arm, refused to reveal the airlines’ most popular flying routes for commercial reasons. However, a spokesman for Singapore Airlines did reveal that it expects to pick up in East Asia with the recent relaxation of border controls. They added that the upcoming Chinese New Year will be a busy time as many travellers will choose to fly at this time. Chinese New Year will be celebrated on January 22 in 2023.
Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, shared in his New Year message that if the COVID-19 situation remains stable despite the year-end travel season and the surge of cases then the remaining restrictions will be uplifted. It seems like Singaporeans will have a lot of exciting travel options in the new year, if all things remain stable and safe.
