The city draws tourists throughout the year who come here to experience its rich build-up and cultural heritage. What makes their visit more special is the hoard of heritage properties the city is home to. Age-old residential bungalows and Havelis in Ahmedabad have been restored and now function as boutique hotels.

What are Heritage Hotels?

Before we go ahead and share the list with you, let us start with what are Heritage Hotels and how are they different from other properties.

According to the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI), the tag of a Heritage Hotel is given to a property if it is situated in palaces/castles/forts/havelies/hunting loges/residence of any size built prior to 1950. Moreover, the hotel’s architectural features and general construction should embody the particular qualities and ambience of the traditional ways of that era. FHRAI also says “Any extension, improvement, renovation, change in the existing structures should be in keeping with the traditional architectural styles and constructional techniques harmonising the new with the old.”

We’ve compiled a list of some of the best heritage properties in Ahmedabad, which promise a truly memorable and luxurious stay.
