If you’ve been wanting to visit Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, this might just be the one for you. The city is set to be back with the Jaisalmer Desert Festival, which celebrates the golden sands, havelis, forts, food, culture and a whole lot more that this haven has to offer. Here’s all you need to know about the same.
Celebrated in the month of February, Jaisalmer Desert Festival is set among the sand dunes of the Thar. The event takes place over three days, and hosts the best of desi Rajasthani entertainment, glimpses of its history, culture and more. To top it all off, the festival celebrates what constitutes a huge chunk of Rajasthan – the desert – and brings people together. The festival is in its 44th edition now, and will not only have cultural events but some amazing musical performances as well.
All you need to know about the Jaisalmer Desert Festival
The event will be held in the first week of February, from 3 to 5. The three-day fiesta will have several unique attractions, such as musical performances, astro-tourism, cultural tours, markets and more.
For all three days, the festival hosts will set up astronomy workshops to help guests spot various constellations and planets on the clear, starry Jaisalmer nights.
Over the three days, popular names from the industry such as Salim-Suleiman, Ankit Tiwari, Salman Ali, Atrangi Project, Shanmukhapriya, and The Raghu Dixit Project will take to the stage, enthralling audiences at the Jaisalmer Desert Festival with their own unique takes on music. Jaisalmer is also known for sharing a border with Pakistan, like several other regions in North India. And over the three days, the state will promote border tourism via the festival. This will include the BSF, Logewala Post, Tanot Mata Mandir, sand dunes with guarding camels and a whole lot more.
