Days of heavy rainfall and flooding have caused massive destruction in Ramgarh, located in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district. According to The Indian Express, the state government reported 52 dead and five as missing. Landslides pose a regular danger in the Himalayan region and according to experts, they will only become more common as glaciers melt, reports Al Jazeera.
Several disaster management organisation, including the Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), have been working with local authorities to carry out rescue operations.
