As active caseloads of infections caused by COVID-19 decline across states in the country, many have eased up mandates and other pandemic-related restrictions. Following suit, Uttar Pradesh released an official statement, noting that all COVID-19 related curbs would be lifted in the state. This is on the heels of the state reopening schools and lifting its night curfew earlier last month.

According to the latest release, as shared by ANI News on Twitter, the government’s decision comes in over fewer cases of infection in the state. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi allowed swimming pools, water parks and Anganwadi centres to open, adding that while many activities were allowed in the past, there were restrictions on opening these few establishments, Business Standard reports. In addition to this, weddings and other events can now be attended at full capacity.
However, the order stated that these activities would only be allowed in tandem with the use of masks and observance of COVID-19 protocols. On February 19, the government had lifted COVID-19 induced night curfew as cases declined. The curfew, which was in place from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, was done away with based on a decline in cases, Awasthi had said, as per a report by the Times of India.
