The route to Kedarnath temple is not too difficult, but reaching the main temple involves some trekking, which might leave you exhausted. How to Reach Kedarnath?
For travelling to Kedarnath, one must be aware that Gaurikund is the last motorable road from Kedarnath. The route ahead of that is pretty much just trekking. You can reach Kedarnath by air, railways, and roadways.
1. By Railways:
Rishikesh station is the nearest station to Kedarnath as Kedarnath does not have its own railway station. It is located about 210 km from Gaurikund and is well connected to other cities. People travelling by railways can get a train till Rishikesh and then hop on a bus to Kedarnath.
2. By Roadways:
The bus network is well connected to cities like New Delhi and Dehradun. Visitors can catch a bus from New Delhi to Dehradun and then catch the next bus to Kedarnath. Also, the bus service does not shy away from offering various options. You can choose from A/C sleeper, non- A/C Sleeper, Volvo A/C and semi-sleeper buses. Visitors can also catch a bus from Haridwar to Kedarnath. The buses from Haridwar take around five hours to reach Kedarnath.
3. By Air:
Kedarnath does not have its own airport. Travellers who wish to reach Kedarnath by air will have to take a flight to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is the nearest airport to Kedarnath. It is located about 250 km from Kedarnath and harbours flights from many cities in India. After landing in Dehradun, you can board a bus or hire a cab to reach Kedarnath.
