Bibliophiles, gear up! The Kerala Literature Festival is back, and will be held in January next year. Read on to know more about this upcoming book fest. By Anushka Goel
After delays due to several COVID-19 scares, the sixth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF 2023) is set to be back soon. The festival will be held in Kozhikode from January 12 to January 15, 2023, along the shores of the Arabian Sea. The festival is supported by the Government of Kerala and is organised by DC Kizhakemuri Foundation.
Kerala Literature Festival: What to look forward to
The four-day festival is among Asia’s largest literature fests. It combines the best of literary and popular cultures, bringing to audiences the best of writers, artists, authors, celebrities, activists and more. These dignitaries, from different backgrounds and interests, not only bring in diversity but varied ideologies and interests.

The sixth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival will see over 400 speakers, including eminent writers such as Archer, Nobel laureates Abhijit Banerjee and Ada Yonath, Piyush Pande, Francesc Miralles, Geethanjali Shree, Wendy Doniger, Ramachandra Guha, Palanivel Thiagarajan, Sanjeev Sanyal, Anand Neelakantan, Shashi Tharoor, Manu S Pillai, Prakash Raj, and Shobhaa De among others.
This year, too, writer and Kerala Sahitya Akademi President K. Sachidanandan will serve as the Festival Director. Apart from that, Kerala Tourism Minister PM Muhammad Riyaz will be the Chief Patron, while former MLA Pradeep Kumar will serve as Patron. Municipal Corporation Chairperson Beena Philip is the Chairperson of the organising committee, while Ravi Deecee is the Chief Facilitator of the event.
The sessions conducted at the Kerala Lit Fest will aim to map literature through discussions on science and technology, art, cinema, politics, music, environment, and literature. Other topics to be covered include the pandemic and its impact, business and entrepreneurship, health, art and leisure, travel and tourism, economy, health, gender, economy, history and politics, culture genomics, and a lot more.
The speakers come with various significant achievements and include Nobel winners, Jnanpith winners, Oscar winners, Booker Prize recipients, literary luminaries, film and theatre personalities, sports icons, diplomats, performance artists, speakers, media persons, artistes and more.
