There’s something super exhilarating about watching the Republic Day parade, every year. And despite all the upheavals we’ve collectively been through in 2020 (COVID-19, we’re looking at you!), celebrations in 2021 are sure to ring in the happy spirits. Delhiites, if you wish to celebrate the day by watching the parade, here are your options! By Bayar Jain1. Visit Rajpath

The excitement of watching the Republic Day parade live at Rajpath is undoubtedly incomparable. From tri-coloured flags fluttering in the air to our armed forces displaying their might, the infectious on-ground vibe is inescapable. While this year’s parade will be relatively muted with lesser crowd gathering, the fervour will continue to be as high as ever. The earlier cap of one lakh visitors has been slashed down to 25,000, of which a certain share has reportedly been reserved for important guests and dignitaries. However, due to this limit, try booking your tickets in advance.
2. Tune into DD National

Celebrate this year’s Republic Day by tuning into nostalgia. Like childhood days, wake up early and gaze at the parade going by on the country’s official broadcaster. Better yet, pair this with desi tri-coloured sweets, snacks and more. We’re talking about paneer tikkas, tiranga biriyani, tiranga dhokla, and more. And, of course, whip up a cup of chai or coffee to accompany.
Moreover, this year, the parade will also be available on the Prasar Bharati news app, the country’s largest public broadcasting agency. To make the experience as immersive as possible, a live 360-degree view will reportedly find a spot on the app this year.
3. Make it a Zoom party

Ordinarily, being a national holiday, Republic Day gives the right opportunity to meet up with friends and family. While you might want to do the same this year too, safety needn’t be compromised in the process. Set up a virtual party where your closest ones can tune into the parade together online. To add to the fun, follow this up with a ‘best-dressed’ competition or an India-themed quiz.
