The pirate folklore that many Caribbean countries boast of is not hidden from the world. However, when it comes to celebrating the legends and to displaying an eclectic mix of their cultural heritage, the Cayman Islands takes a clear lead. Well, the 2019 edition of the Pirates Week Festival has been going on for a week now, where the festivities started on November 1 from Cayman Brac and will wind up on November 17 in Little Cayman. A good five days from November 7 to 11 falls in the bucket of Cayman Islands and it goes without saying, they make the most of it!
You can witness a series of street dance performances, fireworks and parades. Apart from this, happy hours, sports competitions, and contests like best dressed pirate — ensure heavy participation from the local as well as offshore visitors. An extravaganza of lights, traditional music, dance and delicious food resonates through the island, that is clearly one of the most popular Caribbean destinations. Wonder what’s the reason behind it? Visit the Cayman Islands once, and you would know why the Caymanian people are one of the warmest and friendliest people in the world.
If you somehow miss out in the 2019’s Pirates Week Festival, fret not, for you can start preparing for the 2020 edition, that will be held in George Town Harbour from November 5 to 9, 2020.
