The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted its ban on transit travellers from India, and Dubai has re-opened its air bubble with India. This means that Indian passengers can finally travel to Dubai, albeit with some restrictions in place. By Aneesh Kumar
After a brief gap in travel regulations, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted its ban on passengers transiting from India. However, the resumption of these services applies only to those who have been administered UAE-approved vaccines and possess a valid residence visa.

The new travel guidelines also require approval of the passenger’s registration with either Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) or the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship, UAE. According to India.com, the country has lifted its ban on travellers from six countries – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria, and Uganda.
However, only those who have a Dubai resident visa and GDRFA approval are allowed into the Dubai airport. The Abu Dhabi airport has a similar requirement, with inbound passengers requiring the Abu Dhabi Resident Visa to be allowed entry into its premises. This means that passengers who have visas for Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah will have to look for other options to enter the UAE, reports Times Of India.

Further, all passengers travelling to Abu Dhabi will have to be in quarantine for 10 days upon arrival, reports Mint. Passengers will also have to wear a medically-approved tracking wristband during the quarantine period, as per the report.
Taking to Twitter, budget airline IndiGo wrote, “Practice your #SuperHabits at all times to help make travel safe.” Emirates Support, too, explained the details via tweet as response to a customer’s query, writing, “Dubai residence visa holders can travel as long as they present a printout of GDRFA approval, a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure, and a negative Rapid PCR test taken four hours prior to travel.”

According to Matrubhumi, people travelling to Dubai need to have been vaccinated at least 14 days before travel, adding that AstraZeneca’s Covishield is an approved vaccine in the UAE.
