In a country that loves everything sweet, it probably comes as no surprise that India has a dedicated chocolate museum as well. Picture a space replete with a collection of dark almond chocolates, dark cashew nuts chocolates, chocolate with crisps, or even a simple, plain chocolate bar. Nestled in a corner of Tamil Nadu’s Ooty, the M&N Chocolate Museum is the first of it’s kind in the country. Dating back to 2013, this cocoa-lover’s heaven is run by a local family who aim to spread the word about chocolates’ many benefits, break down the complicated production processes, and simply double as a tribute to nature’s sweetest offering.

A tribute, and how! The museum contains models and structures crafted with chocolate itself. In fact, it even houses a mannequin which has been draped with chocolate clothes. Budding chocolatiers and wannabe Willy Wonkas can even try their hand at crafting their own chocolates, courtesy their do-it-yourself chocolate making kit.

However, staying true to its name, the M&N Chocolate Museum also imparts historical knowledge. When here, guests can learn about the history of chocolate-making — which dates back to 1500 — and even marvel at the various tools and techniques on display. A range of posters and charts don the walls here, allowing one to further ascertain their understanding. That apart, there are over a 100 chocolates up on display, ensuring each guest is left with a salivating mouth by the end of the tour. With such a sweet display, it’s only natural, then, for the museum to have earned a spot in the LIMCA Book of Records for creating India’s longest chocolate bar.
