The KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has recently announced its plans to increase the number of summer flights to tourist hotspots in southern European countries, with more long–haul additions scheduled for July.
“KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will further expand its route network in July. Compared to June, the number of flights will increase by more than 60 per cent. KLM will operate 25 to 30 per cent of the normal number of flights. The range of destinations will be expanded, particularly in Southern Europe. These destinations include Alicante, Bilbao, Bologna, Ibiza, Istanbul, Nice, Porto, Catania and Split. In total, the planned European KLM network comprises 73 destinations in the month of July, up from 30 destinations in May and an expected 45 destinations in June,” KLM airlines said in a statement on its official website.

“With the network expansions in July, KLM will once again serve 78 per cent of the initially planned number of destinations with more than 3,000 departing flights at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol,” it added.
“Our customers want to travel again. We are therefore expanding the network slowly and carefully. With all the hygiene measures taken on board and on the ground, we are doing this as safely as possible,” KLM President and CEO Pieter Elbers was quoted on the website.
Moreover, Air France-KLM has also started operating flights to and from Italy from June 1 and plans to resume in Rome, Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Naples and Bari, as well. Furthermore, the airlines has also started flights to Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and Sint Maarten.

Last month, it even enhanced its hygiene protocols for the safety of both the passengers as well as the crew members. “For airlines, flying during the Corona crisis means operating under exceptional circumstances. The current situation calls for a series of measures, in order to safely and healthily carry out our flight operation for passengers and crew.
