You Can Now Dream Escape To Kerala With These Bollywood Movies

Thanks to the many streaming services, which are making this lockdown somewhat more bearable for us… These services are also helping us Dream Escape to some of our favourite destinations while we sit within our homes waiting to #LetItPass. Here’s a list of Bollywood movies that will take you on a virtual tour to Kerala. By Kumar Shree 

1. Baahubali: The Beginning

The movie takes you to the Niagra Fall of India — Athirappally waterfall, which is in Thrissur, Kerala. The Suren Chellakutti falls, as the natives call it, is one of the most stunning waterfalls in Kerala and attract a huge number of tourists every year. You can witness this beauty while sitting at your home now. Look out for the scene where the protagonist carries a giant Shivalinga on his shoulder.

2. Chennai Express

This movie is as visually appealing as it is funny and tickling. For those who searched for the shoot locations on the internet, here’s some help — one of it was Kerala. We know this is a movie you can watch umpteen number of times. Just look out for songs — Kashmir Main, Tu Kanyakumari and Titli, both of which were shot in Kerala.

3. Guru

Here’s another way to witness the gorgeous Athirappally waterfall. The song Barso Re Megha from the movie Guru was shot there. While the scintillating dance performance by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the melodious composition of A R Rahman, and the sweet voice of Shreya Ghosal made this song a complete package, and it was the location that made people watch this song again and again.

4. Life of Pi

Now, here’s an international award-winning film, which was also shot in Kerala. Yes, many segments of the Ang Lee’s directorial were shot in the stunning backdrop of Kerala. We know you are obviously watching this one, aren’t you! 

5. Nishabd

The movie directed by Ram Gopal Varma also had stellar performances by Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan. Nishabd beautifully captures the essence of Kerala while weaving a story that was way ahead of its time. 

Some other movies and songs which have captured the essence of Kerala are — song Tu Hi Re from movie Bombay, song Jiya Jale from movie Dil Se, song Ek Deewana Tha from the movie Baaghi, movie Cotton Mary, and Madras Café too.
