The International Kite Festival 2023 was inaugurated at Sabarmati riverfront, Ahmedabad on Sunday (January 8, 2023) by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel. Set according to the G-20 theme – “One Earth, One Family, One Future”, the festival will witness the participation of 125 kite flyers from 68 countries.
Malaysia, Australia, Iraq, Canada, Bahrain, France, Belgium, Russia, South Africa, Germany, Mexico, Greece, Italy, Israel, Egypt, New Zealand, Columbia, Denmark, and Indonesia are among the 65 countries that will be actively participating in the Kite Festival.

Besides global participation, the week-long event which will round off on January 14, 2023, will have 65 flyers from 14 states and 660 from several parts of India. The prestigious G-20 meet commenced in India on December 1, 2022, and will continue till November 30, 2023. For the first time, in the history of the country’s celebrated achievements, India has acquired a reputable platform for serving as the President nation of the eighteenth G-20 meet.
The festival has upscaled the state’s reputation over time
As per a published report in The Economic Times, Bhupendra Patel shared that under the guidance of India’s Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, the kite of Gujarat’s evolution has been touching improved scales for two consecutive decades. He further added – “The kite festival is an opportunity to touch the sky and reach new heights. Kites are a symbol of progress, prosperity, and flight.” The Chief Minister took to his Twitter account to share the glory of the event.
