Isha Ambani, director of Reliance Retail, is reported to have described the JWD as a hub of innovative, engaging, inclusive and accessible experiences. “This vision has led to yet another redefining experience for Mumbaikars with the opening of the Jio drive-in theatre,” Ambani said.
A release on Monday, November 1, by the corporate giant, announced that the hotly-awaited theatre, with ‘the biggest screen in town’, will offer unparalleled and unique forms of entertainment and ‘will bring a new way of watching movies from one’s own car’, as reported by the Hindustan Times.
The drive-in theatre is part of the larger aim of Reliance to position JWD as the cultural centre of experimental concepts in the spheres of entertainment, food and beverage and of course, retail. Thus, the location offers exciting experiences, in addition to the theatre. These include members-only The Bay Club, which will house advanced sports facilities, and Nine Dine, a casual-dining space that serves foods from nine different cuisines. Reliance has also partnered with experts like Ritu Dalmia, a culinary sensation, to bring the best of India to the forefront.
JWD also presents art pieces of artists from India and across the world, “setting a new precedent in democratising art and making it accessible to all”, as reported by the Hindustan Times. Reliance also announces that an extension of JWD is will soon launch at the Jio World Centre.
