In the wake of the Omicron variant, several countries have closed their borders to prevent further infiltration of the virus. And those who haven’t yet, have at least tightened their international travel regulations. And as we witness an unexpected spike in cases within the national borders the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) issued fresh guidelines for domestic and international air passengers.
The MoCA took to Twitter and asked the passengers travelling to Delhi to go through the latest state-wise quarantine guidelines and take all necessary measures to fight the COVID-19 virus which is spreading again.

The latest guidelines issued by the centre have mandated thermal screening and sample collection for all air passengers.
Complete list of guidelines for air passengers
- Air passengers will be allowed to exit only after the sample collection.
- Passengers who are travelling on a connecting flight and will not be leaving the airport in transit must refer to the detailed guidelines of the respective final destination arrival state.
- Air passengers testing positive for the virus will be quarantined at home/Covid care centres/community health centres/ hospitals for 10 days.
- It is advisable that domestic passengers download the Arogya Setu app.
International passengers are required to quarantine for a week
At the moment, all passengers arriving in India from at-risk countries will be tested upon arrival and need to pre-book their tests in advance. As per the new restrictions, however, all passengers, irrespective of whether they have tested negative upon arrival, will need to undergo home quarantine for seven days, following which they will have to undertake an RT-PCR test. If they test negative, passengers are advised to further monitor their health for seven days. Results of the test will need to be uploaded on the Air Suvidha Portal, according to a report by the Economic Times.
