Spending a night under the starry skies of the North Pole is probably a childhood dream for most of us. A pop-up hotel in the world’s northernmost region is set to make these dreams come true. Here’s all you need to know about this otherworldly opportunity. By Bayar Jain
Imagine sleeping under the twinkling starry skies and cosying under the blankets with your loved ones in an icy igloo in the world’s northernmost region. A temporary hotel site by Luxury Action, a travel company, will give you the opportunity to do just that!
Starting April 2020, a pop-up hotel named The North Pole Igloos Hotel will give 1,000 people a chance to make this one-in-a-lifetime journey every year. The hotel will comprise of 10 heated domes with glass roofs, an en suite toilet, on-site camp manager, chef, and a security team. An Arctic wilderness guide will also be included in the hotel package to enable guests to explore the fauna of the region.
“The North Pole has been one of the most exclusive travel destinations in the world for years, but no nice and comfortable accommodation facilities exist there,” explains Janne Honkanen, founder of Luxury Action, the travel company behind the ambitious project.
The complete package includes a two-night stay pitstop on the island of Svalbard, Norway, after which the travellers will be taken to spend a night in the luxurious hotels. Flights, transportation, meals, and tours are all taken care of as well. Cautious vacationers can add a stay at the company’s five-star lodge, Octola in the Finnish Lapland region, where they can get extra “training” for their glacial journey.
Facilities aside, travellers to this frozen desert will be in for another special treat. During April, when the hotel is set to be inaugurated, the Arctic circle skies light up with the aurora borealis or the Northern Lights, adding to the surreal experience of it all.
Unsurprisingly, the entire package will cost roughly 7,541,651 INR (105,000 USD). But we can assure you, it will be worth every penny!
