Imagine flying across the Indian desert, enjoying a bird’s eye view of the vast and never-ending golden sand. This may sound like a dream, but this is soon going to be a reality! Now people travelling to Jaisalmer will be able to take a helicopter ride across the Indian desert.
This initiative by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), the helicopter ride service allows tourists to enjoy a scenic view of the Sam sand dunes of Jaisalmer. The rides started on December 27, and the services are being provided by a private company known as A1 helicopter service provider on an experimental basis. You can take these rides from Samdhani, Jaisalmer.
A minimum price of INR 7,000 has been fixed per tourist for the helicopter ride. They will be running a maximum of 40 flights per day, in two slot packages of 5 and 15 minutes. Over 200 tourists will be able to enjoy these joyrides each day.
The helicopter rides were inaugurated by Minority Affairs Minister Saleh Mohammad, State Minister for Tourism Murarilal Meena and RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore. Rathore said “There is an ambitious plan to make a tourism circuit by connecting other tourist places of the state through the service. Religious, wildlife and heritage places will be added to this circuit, which will facilitate domestic and foreign tourists to visit more tourist places in less time.”
