Starting October 1, you will finally be able to fly on domestic routes via Terminal 2 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, which has remained shut since the first lockdown was announced in March, while only T3 was operational, for both domestic as well as international flights.
However, now that T3’s domestic wing has been functioning in full capacity, the Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), has decided to add more flights from Delhi’s T2 Airport, whereas T1 is yet to resume operations.
So far, only GoAir and IndiGo have confirmed to operate flights from T2.

While IndiGo will be shifting a part of its operations, GoAir will shift its entire operations to T2. As per reports, IndiGo and SpiceJet, which account to about two-thirds of the domestic market, have been operating flights from T3 since September 5, amid capacity enhancement work at T2. The shift in terminals is a result of increased traffic post reallocation of Jet Airways, and also DIAl’s attempt to enhance passenger experience at the capital’s airport. As per the DGCA, all airlines have witnessed a surge in the number of passengers since last month, with SpiceJet, Vistara and IndiGo, being at the first, second and third positions, respectively.
“Domestic air traffic has been growing every month since the resumption of operations in May-end. Currently, about half of the originally approved domestic summer schedule is operational. T3 domestic side was getting full, and reactivating T2 to accommodate more flights were required,” an airline official told Times of India.
