Chhath 2020 is sorted for the residents of North Bihar as the Aviation Ministry has given its Darbhanga town, a green signal to operate daily flights by November. By Kumar Shree
Chhath, one of the most popular festivals in Bihar usually means a busy time for the transportation sector. As people earning their bread and butter all across the country rush back to their homeland for this major festival every year, transportation plays a major role. However, lack of air connectivity in the northern part of the state contributes to the festive chaos and overburdens other available options.

Well, it seems like those overcrowded trains, and skyrocketing airline ticket prices will soon be a thing of the past, because India’s Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, has recently declared that north Bihar will get air connectivity and that too before Chhath 2020.
While the state does have airports in Patna and Gaya, but both lie on the southern side of the river Ganga.
Now that the airport in north Bihar’s Darbhanga town is all set to begin commercial operation, the situation will surely improve for better and bring much-awaited ease of travel for the residents.
The bookings for the same are scheduled to commence shortly, and the remaining preparation work at the airport will be wrapped up before October end. The flights will begin plying from the first week of November.

“Very happy to see that most of the work at the airport is almost complete. Arrival and departure halls, check-in facility, conveyor belt, etc., have already been installed. Remaining work will be completed before the end of October. Spicejet has already been awarded this route under RCS-UDAN,” Puri said in a series of tweets.
“This is one more step under the ambitious UDAN Scheme to provide air connectivity to the interior regions of the country under the motto ‘Sab Uden, Sab Juden.’ Congratulations to my sisters & brothers of Mithila Bhumi,” he added.
