Chennai airport to soon make waiting for flights entertaining instead of annoying, with its upcoming five-screen theatre. By Tanvi Jain
Travelling to, from or via Chennai? Well now you don’t have to worry about how to kill time while waiting for a delayed flight. In order to add some fun to this time period, which otherwise doesn’t seem to get over, the city’s airport is about to launch a five-screen movie theatre inside the premises.
The screens which will be of India’s largest multiplex chain- PVR Cinemas – will be put up in the multi-level car parking complex, currently under construction.
The theatre to be built by the Olympia Group at a cost of INR 250 crore, and with a reported investment of INR 15 crore by PVR Cinemas, will also have food and beverage options, and roughly over 1,000 seats.

Moreover, reports also suggest of a three or four level car parking lot and a hypermarket facility. And, the theatre is likely to be opened for public by October this year.
Reports further suggest that PVR is expecting around 80 per cent locals and 20 per cent transit passengers.
