Since the closing dates for Char Dham Yatra 2020 are out, we have all the details that will help you plan a well-informed trip. As per reports, while Gangotri will shut doors on November 15 at 12:15 pm, Kedarnath and Yamunotri will close on November 16 at 8:30 am and 12:15 pm, respectively. Badrinath, on the other hand, will wrap up this year’s final darshans on November 19 at 3:35 pm.

The dates were announced on the occasion of Dussehra, on October 25, by the authorities at Uttarakhand Char Dham Devasthanam Board, based on astrological calculations of the respective shrines.
As reported by The New Indian Express, Ravinath Raman, CEO of Char Dham Devasthanam Management Board and commissioner of Garhwal division of Uttarakhand said, “The priests as always have discussed and decided the dates for closure of the portals for the winter season. The portals will close for winters at the decided time.”

Last year, around 38 lakh devotees had undertaken the holy Char Dham Yatra. This year however only 1.5 lakh pilgrims have made it to the shrines so far.
While the yatra was initially cancelled after the nationwide lockdown was set in motion in March 2020, it was later resumed in a phased manner from June onwards. Earlier, only residents of the state were allowed to undertake the pilgrimage, but from July, the government permitted non-resident visitors as well, given they present a valid COVID-19 negative certificate.
Other than the shrines forming up the Char Dham Yatra, many other prominent temples in the state have also declared their closing dates for the season. Tungnath temple and Madmaheshwar temple will close their doors on November 4 and November 19, respectively. The annual Madmaheshwar fair, on the other hand, will take place on November 22.
