Vistara will allow passengers to book an adjacent seat at a discounted rate in order to keep it vacant and hence maintain in-flight social distancing. The announcement was made by its Chief Commercial Officer Vinod Kannan, soon after, the airlines released a survey of nearly 6,000 customers including Club Vistara members from all tier levels and non-members, who threw light on three key concerns about flying i.e. the fear of exposure through the journey, fellow passengers not following health and safety protocols, and anticipated higher fares (in order of prominence).
Therefore, to safeguard the health of both its passengers as well as staff in the ongoing pandemic, the airline has taken certain measures which include regular health checks of its crew members, reduced contact between the crew and customers, temporarily discontinued in-flight meals, onboard sales, reading material, intensified aircraft cleaning procedure with disinfectants and sanitises across all its aircrafts before every take-off and deep cleaning every 24 hours, in-built air filtration systems on all flights to ensure the elimination of virus and bacteria, and to refresh the cabin air every two to three minutes.

In the survey, it was further revealed that while 57 per cent of the Club Vistara elite (Platinum and Gold tier) members would fly as early as in the next one month, 65 per cent of the non-members said that they expect to take their next Vistara flight within the next six months. While for 35 per cent of the respondents, the primary reason to travel was for business purpose, 25 per cent said they would travel to visit friends and relatives.
Meanwhile, Singapore, UK and Dubai, emerged as top three destinations for customers’ next international travel followed by the United States and Thailand, as 20 per cent of the respondents planned to take their next flight to a destination outside of India.

Three of these five international destinations are already a part of Vistara’s international network, which the airline plans to expand to other countries in and outside the continent as it inducts new narrow-body and wide-body aircraft.
Furthermore, 69 per cent of the respondents rated Vistara eight upon ten or higher in terms of their confidence in the airline for ensuring their health and safety while travelling.
