Renowned nightclubs in Berlin are all set to reopen after easing of lockdown restrictions, but with many new safety protocols. By Manya Saini
We have all been wondering when will be the next time we visit a club with friends to enjoy the weekend. Germany is the first to show a glimpse of what clubbing in the ‘new normal’ of a post-Coronavirus lockdown world will look like. Iconic hubs popular among both tourists and locals such as Sisyphos, Birgit & Bier, and Rummels Bay in Germany opened their doors to the public on Saturday.

Reopening post-pandemic has resulted in the establishments changing major parts of its decor and policies. As per the new protocols designed by the government, clubs will be required to ensure that guests are seated at all times at a safe distance from one another. The staff and guests will be required to wear masks and gloves.
Most of these establishments will be allowed to open only in the afternoon and will be required to close by 10 pm. Strict practices of disinfection and sanitation have also been devised to ensure the highest possible safety standards are maintained.
Due to the crowded nature of most dance floors, a complete ban has been imposed as of now on dancing, however, music has been allowed. A new system implemented by Rummels Bay has mandated that only members of two households can share the same table.

Clubs with outdoor space have revamped themselves as beer gardens serving bistro food and drinks at a limited capacity. Some have also made reservations compulsory to receive service.
Germany had begun easing its lockdown restrictions from the end of April in a bid to revive its crestfallen economy. The country is looking to start welcoming tourists from next month onward after achieving success over the pandemic. It went into a strict lockdown in March to curb the spread of the virus and has since implemented strict social distancing measures to contain it.
