Coming November, you might once again be able to relax in beach shacks in Goa as work for the same has already resumed, and will probably be finished in a couple of days. By Kumar Shree
Goa’s tourism department has already started marking spots for beach shacks and we couldn’t be more excited. While the process is underway in North Goa beaches and is likely to finish within 10 to 15 days, the team will soon turn to South Goa beaches as well.

Even though the concerned authorities are running late as opposed to the original schedule set for October, the owners in the area are relieved that the work has at least resumed. Since the COVID-19 pandemic had severely affected their business, they have been eagerly waiting for these beach shacks to reopen. Candolim, Calangute and Anjuna are some of the widely popular beaches in North Goa.
Meanwhile, as far as the South Goa beach shacks are concerned, since many officials from the tourism department are already busy with COVID-19 related duties at the South Goa Collectorate building, and the department is anyway functioning on lower than usual staff count, the work will resume only after completing what’s already at hand.

Therefore, if you are planning to visit Goa in the first half of November and enjoy some time in the beach shacks, you must opt for North Goa.
The business owners are hopeful of seeing a boost in operations, more so since the peak season and festivals are kicking in together. While Goa has reopened for domestic tourism, it is still shying from international arrivals and charter flights. Since the COVID-19 has taken a toll on businesses, the government has cut down the license fees by 50 per cent.
