Sharing the picture, Thakur wrote, “This is the REAL INDIA.” The ground, he said, has been funded as part of the government’s ‘Khelo India’ sports infrastructure. It is located at a height of over 11,000 feet above sea level, writes Times Now News, adding that the government has been creating and funding several facilities for people to encourage participation in sports activities.
The foundation stone for the highest football stadium in India was laid by former sports minister Kiren Rijiju last year in September, writes Republic World, adding that the ground includes an astroturf football pitch surrounded by a synthetic track. The open-air stadium is surrounded by scenic mountains and crystal clear skies in a possible attempt to make it an ideal spot for people, including children, to participate in the game and aspire to be sportspersons.
