With the anticipation of the third wave of Coronavirus looming over us, the Delhi government has reportedly set up new colour-coded guidelines for domestic travellers as a counter measure. These guidelines are allegedly aimed at travellers entering Delhi from other states, including those states that have over five per cent positivity rate.
The newly-introduced colour-coded plan was approved by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) during a meeting that was also attended by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, reports Business Insider.
According to the media reports, the colour-coded guidelines have four levels of alerts based on the positivity rate or the number of new cases, oxygen, or bed occupancy. The first level is coded yellow; the second, amber; the third, orange; and the fourth, red—which is the highest level.

The red level denotes over five per cent COVID-19 positivity rate, 16,000 new cases in a week, or an occupancy of 3,000 oxygen beds. In these situations, a traveller flying to Delhi from other states and union territories will reportedly have to face restrictions while travelling. Restrictions will also be imposed on those who are travelling to Delhi by road or by air from states that have more than a 10 per cent positivity rate, or have been affected by a new mutant of the Coronavirus.
As per reports, travellers entering the national capital based on the implementation of the colour-coded guidelines will be required to present a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination (complete with both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine) or furbish a negative RT-PCR report, issued not more than 72 hours before arrival. Travellers failing to abide by these requirements will be required to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine. The authorities have reportedly undertaken efforts to ensure strict compliance with COVID-19-appropriate protocols.
However, the central government’s rules shall be followed for international travels in the state.
