Six lodges in Rajasthan to plan your next getaway

The Mountbatten Lodge

Rajasthan is a state full of culture and heritage, and with its many forests, the place is also great for safaris. The Mountbatten Lodge, located close to the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, is a four-suite luxury property for those looking for some calm over the weekend. Close to two important historical sites – the Kumbhalgarh Fort and the Ranakpur Jain Temple.

The lodge also provides facilities such as horse riding, horse trekking, camping, jungle safaris, sundowners and interactions with the locals, so that you get the entire experience of what Rajasthan has to offer, right in the lap of luxury.

The lodge has just four suites, which makes it great for a small family vacation.

Wordsworth Lodge

This luxury lodge is hidden away at the base of the forested Gurushikar in Rajasthan. And yes, if you wondered whether there’s any connection to the poet William Wordsworth, you’re thinking on the right track. Diana Wordsworth, a collateral cousin of the poet, travelled to India in 1965 to make a film on the Ganga, and fell in love with India and an Indian Army colonel, Buddha Sen. A meeting with Fateh Singh Rathore helped them discover the spot for their home, which is now the Wordsworth Lodge.

Surrounded by the hills, the property features several cottages and suites set far away from each other, offering different views – of the mountains, the jungle, and more. You can dine in at the garden restaurant here, named Uttarayan, or go for long nature walks that the lodge helps you organise. You can also do a tour of Mount Abu, and go on treks and other such activities.

Bijapur Lodge

Situated in the foothills of the Aravallis, in the small village called Bijapur, the Bijapur Lodge offers all luxuries and comfort that one might need when planning a getaway from the big cities. Spread over five acres, the property houses six suites, a swimming pool and all modern amenities one needs for a comfortable stay.

Bijapur is known for its blend of tribal culture and nature, and the recent sightings of leopards and birds with its spectacular landscape has made it a place to be visited and experienced.

The lodge is eco-friendly and focuses on sustainability and takes care to involve the locals as much as possible. The meals are farm-fresh, and the lodge also offers services such as nature walks and birdwatching tours to keep guests entertained.

Bera Safari Lodge

The Bera Safari Lodge is spread over 10 acres on the outskirts of the Kothar village, roughly six kilometres from the Bera Village. The place offers five spacious cottages that are tastefully designed, each with private sit-out spots for you to enjoy the views.

What’s more, the cottages are set away from each other to offer you the privacy and comfort you need on your getaway. The ample natural light lets guests soak in the flora and fauna of the area, and one can also see leopards from their room in the Liloda hills!

One can indulge in activities such as birdwatching at the Jawai Dam or nature and jungle safaris, which the lodge can organise for you. And once you’re done with the activities of the day, the rooms provide a safe haven for you to retreat and relax!

Ghanerao Jungle Lodge

Another lodge bordering the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, Ghanerao Jungle Lodge offers guests a beautiful experience of living in the middle of nowhere. The spacious cottages are at a slight distance from each other, and common spaces such as the dining areas and the bonfire set-up offer activities for guests to enjoy together.

One can visit the nearby historical sites such as the Ranakpur Temple and the Kumbhalgarh Fort or go for a wildlife safari to spot some wild beasts. Once back, relax and enjoy the beautiful views from your cottage windows.

The KB Cafe at the rooftop offers delectable pure vegetarian cuisine for guests to enjoy, and tourists can spend their days exploring the beautiful city of Jaisalmer. Visit its many forts and palaces, indulge in local cuisine, and purchase some traditional crafts and cloth, and once back at the lodge, relax in the comfortable beds as you spend some time with your family.
