Introducing Relais Christine
History
Housed within a 17th-century town house built on the ruins of the Saint-Denis College of Grands-Augustins Abbey, Relais Christine comes packed with abundant history. Once a college for training the kingdom’s most prestigious abbots, the building was torn down in 1595 to pave the way for Rue Christine, a street named after the royal children of the city. This restructuring marked an architectural shift, one of which was the National Society of Geography, now home to the Relais Christine since 1979.
Location
Located at a stone’s throw from some of the most iconic cultural landmarks in the city, including the Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and Notre Dame de Paris cathedral, Relais Christine is a haven to immerse in Parisian culture, while staying true to the hotel’s historic past. The nearby Saint Germain des Prés, Luxembourg Garden, and the Seine riverbanks lend the space abundant natural beauty, and the hotel’s proximity to art galleries, shopping streets, and historic cafés such as Café de Flore and Deux Magots make it one of the prime addresses in the city.
Design
Relais Christine is the perfect blend of classic French design and contemporary aesthetic. With decorator Laura Gonzalez at the helm, the hotel preserves the timeless essence of the stones by infusing it with a modern flair. A picturesque flower-lined courtyard and a serene private garden add to the overall vibe. With a renovation in 2017, the rooms are a true reflection of contemporary-meets-history. Think classic old furniture, patterns, wallpapers, and fabrics marrying with contemporary materials like brass and marble.
Stay
Whether you prefer Toile de Jouy prints in your room, Carrera marbled bathrooms, or even cozy canopy beds, the hotel has it all! Prepare to be enchanted by the 48 unique rooms and suites — available in seven room types — each of which houses a chic and intimate ambience. Each room comes equipped with a mini-bar, coffee machine, a safe, and Bluetooth-enabled Marshall speaker. Plus, the hotel also provides complimentary valet parking in its private garage, and complimentary bicycle rentals. Just the way you’d like to explore Paris, sans the rain.
Relax
The Lounge
As part of the renovated avatar of Relais Christine, the reception and lounge areas on the ground floor have also been redesigned while maintaining a historic charm, intimate atmosphere, and refined décor. The captivating lounge is the ideal retreat to unwind over a good book by the fireside after a day of sightseeing. No matter the time of day, when here, treat yourself to a cup of tea or a pick-me-up, or indulge in a glass of wine or champagne.
The Guerlain Spa
Located in the hotel’s lower level, The Guerlain Spa provides a range of wellness services, including top-notch facials and full-body pampering. With roomier booths, the spa boasts a range of treatments from the famed Maison Guerlain, including a special option for couples. We highly recommend the back massage. Be it the Orchidée Impériale, Abeille Royale, La Dédicace Guerlain– the signature treatment at the Relais Christine–each one is personalised and catered to individual needs.
Experience
Since opening its doors in 1979, Relais Christine has always been about warm hospitality. Every guest is treated like royalty and is assured attentive and personalised service. The hotel’s philosophy of providing sophisticated luxury and upholding cherished traditions truly makes it a unique experience in the City of Love.
