Next time you hit the roads, don’t worry about carrying any of your vehicular documents, such as driving license, RC, insurance papers, etc., because, from October 1, the Government has decided to digitise everything, so that any kind of checking and even e-challans can be done via online portals.
This means that if your documents are found valid by the electronic medium, then you won’t have to show a hard copy for any further inspection. Moreover, the details of licenses which have either been revoked or disqualified will be recorded in the portal in chronological order.
After the passing of Motor Vehicles Amendment act 2019, rules were drafted. In this regard, to make roads safer, a portal shall record the disqualification/revocation of the driving license to keep the behaviour of rash drivers in check. #SadakSurakshaJeevanRaksha pic.twitter.com/ScCSO5pJA4

“Details of driving licences disqualified or revoked by the licensing authority shall be recorded chronologically in the portal and such record shall be reflected on a regular basis on the portal that has been provided for. Thus, the record shall be maintained electronically and further, the driver behaviour would be monitored,” Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) said in a statement.
“It has been provided that if the details of the documents are found validated through the electronic means by the enforcement officer then physical forms of such documents shall not be demanded inspection, including in cases where there is an offence made out necessitating seizure of any such documents” it added.
Provisions have been made for the producing and obtaining certificates in physical and electronic form. The records includes the validity, issuance of documents, date-time stamping of inspection and the officers. #SadakSurakshaJeevanRaksha pic.twitter.com/qtcWtfFGkr

Moreover, starting October 1, the Government has planned to issue Uniform Vehicle Registration Cards (RCs) and Driving Licenses (DLs) across the country. These new licenses will come with an in-built advanced microchip with features, such as Quick Response (QR) code and Near Field Communication (NFC); which will help the Government maintain an online record of all the penalties slapped on the cardholder for a 10-year period.
Apart from this, no more discounts will be allowed at petrol pumps on payments made via credit cards, however, in case of debit card or digital payments, the discounts will still prevail.
