When in Gangtok, you simply cannot afford to miss out on Rumtek Monastery, one of the most significant and magnificent ones in Gangtok. Built to resemble the original one situated in Tsurphu, Tibet — Rumtek Monastery is an important Buddhist institution belonging to the Kagyu sect.
3. Kanchndzonga Biosphere Reserve
The easiest way to fall in love with Gangtok all over again is by reminding yourself of its spectacular biological diversity, which is in full display in the Kanchendzonga Biospehere Reserve. Flanked by the mighty Kanchendzonga, this high-altitude reserve is home to Musk Deer, Snow Leopards, and Himalayan Tahr, among others.
4. Hanuman Tok
This Hanuman Temple located at an elevation of 7,500 metres speaks volumes about Gangtok’s religious tolerance. This is also one of the best spots to catch a panoramic and breathtaking view of the Kanchendzonga. The zen-like energy that this place exudes is not to be found elsewhere.

Take a step back and ogle at the 360-degree views of the majestic Himalayas, the sun rising and setting from the Tashi View Point in Gangtok. Hike up Tashi view point on a clear day and look down on Gangtok, and you can’t help but fall in love with your hometown all over again.
