For this episode of #TnlTasteOfTheWorld, Chef Amlendu Kashyap, Sous Chef of Park Hyatt Chennai brings this traditionality to light with a beverage inspired from ancient Indian healing remedies. Doubling as an apt antidote for the current situation, the Herby Twist is an immunity boosting herbal tea that fuses together delicious flavours with innumerable medicinal properties.
Herby Twist
Ingredients
- 10 grams peppercorns
- 10 grams cinnamon
- 5 grams ajwain
- 5 grams coriander seeds
- 5 grams cumin
- ½ litre water
- Mint
- Tulsi
- Ginger
- Fresh coriander
- Lemon, jaggery, and honey to taste
Recipe:
- Using a pestle, pound the peppercorns, cinnamon, ajwain, coriander seeds, and cumin in a mortar.
- Add this crushed powder to water and let it boil for ten minutes.
- Crush some fresh coriander and tulsi. Add this to the water.
- Once the water is boiled, strain the tea into a glass.
- Squeeze some lemon juice, and stir.
- Add honey and jaggery to taste. Stir.
- Garnish with mint.
