Having cemented its space as one of the most famous resto-bars in New Delhi’s Aerocity, Virat Kohli’s restaurant One8 Commune hits it out of the park with a new menu, crafted by Chef Pawan Bisht,
featuring the former skipper’s favourites.

A Review of One8 Commune’s New Menu

Appetiser

At One8 Commune, Chef Pawan Bisht promises to enthral diners with a brand new menu that offers everything “sweet, spice, and everything nice.” The new assortment, I learn, is for those looking to experiment while staying rooted in comfortable flavours.
The team reveals, “With the new menu, fans can also enjoy some of Virat Kohli’s new favourites like Tartar Topped on Avocado (INR 565); Baby Bocincinni, Arugula and California Grapes salad (INR 515), and Oriental meal bowls (starting from INR 495).” I opt for the Mushroom Googly Dim Sum (INR 655).

The five bite-sized dim sums hidden in the bamboo basket exude familiar whiffs of steamy goodness. It’s bright purple hues, however, guarantee that the flavours will be far from regular. The assorted wild mushrooms interlaced with cream cheese are interesting and the truffle oil’s pungency shines through. For those who like to dunk this popular street-side in sauces, the sour creamy mayonnaise accompaniment is ideal.
The Sriracha Paneer Chilli (INR 415) takes the famous paneer tikka and douses it in a sweet-spicy sriracha sauce. While the cottage cheese itself is soft, it is the crunch in the bell peppers and green onions that I enjoy more. My favourite on the plate, however, is the slightly spicy and tangy green chutney. It doesn’t take long for me to polish the plate clean!
Main Course

Swerving towards the meaty side of the menu, the mains are reserved for the Signature Black Chicken (INR 455). Each chicken piece is dark black, courtesy of the coal-grilled exteriors and black sesame marinade. Inside, the familiar flavours of the juicy meat sing. Also on the new menu is One8 Commune’s signature Truffle Flavoured Broken Wheat Haleem (INR 465), Pan Seared Fish Steak (INR 765), Middle Eastern Pilaf Rice (INR 625), Coastal Chicken Curry (INR 655), and more.
Dessert

When at One8 Commune, embark on a global voyage one bite at a time. Head to the Middle East with the Baklava Tart, taste the Land Down Under with the pavlova, savour Italy’s famous tiramisu, or enjoy classic French flavours with the Strawberry Frasier. Pro tip: visit during the Sunday Brunch when these sweet treats are on the house!
Drinks
On the drinks front, One8 Commune positions itself as a ‘cocktail lover’s dream’. I put this claim to test and opt for the Ginny Blossom (INR 625). Despite being a chilly winter afternoon, the refreshing concoction reminds of sunny summer days. The chamomile-infused gin has floral undertones, with bits of fresh apple, peach, and mint giving it a needed punch.
Our Takeaway

One8 Commune, Aerocity spans across two floors with an alfresco seating to boot. Indoors, on the ground floor, cricketer Virat Kohli’s memorabilia doubles as decor with an open bar adding to the laidback atmosphere. Those looking for some quiet can head to the second floor where multiple glass windows help silence the hustle-bustle of Worldmark Aerocity. The party, however, is at the alfresco seating where live band performances serenade. Head here if you’re a cricket fan looking to grab some grub with live beats to accompany. Should Aerocity seem too far, head over to any of the other two outlets in Delhi — Civil Lines or Punjabi Bagh — to try the new menu.
