Virat Kohli’s resto-bar, One8 Commune, in the popular dining destination of Delhi, Aerocity continues to tickle tastebuds and draw people with innovations in its menu. By Chirag Mohanty Samal

Set in the busy dining district of Delhi, Aerocity, One8 Commune, the resto-pub co-owned by former captain of the Indian cricket team offers a fun, casual dining space to catch up with friends. Spread over two floors, the space has several design elements that constantly remind you of Virat Kohli.

While his signature is splashed across one wall, lights shaped like cricket balls are suspended from the ceiling near the bar area and there’s a live score board fitted on a wall in the first floor of the restaurant. Bare brown tables flanked by plush velvet chairs in yellow and purple add a dash of colour to the interiors. There’s outside seating too on both the floors. We recommend you choose the upper floor of the sports bar as that gives you a commanding view of Aerocity.

Food and drinks

Though One8 Commune was launched in 2019, the menu has been constantly evolving and offers a wide range of cuisine. We called for some googly mushroom dim sums and we got lightly purple coloured soft, melt-in-the-mouth dim sums filled with mushroom and a side of truffle oil. Next up was the black chicken. True to its name the dish had beautifully flavoured, coal-grilled chicken pieces in in black sesame marinade, the smoky tinge made it more interesting. The sriracha chicken taco that we tried was another interesting dish. Crunchy tortilla wrapped around shredded chicken, arugula, sour cream, guacamole and salsa came packed with a riot of flavours.

We washed down the food with a few gin-based cocktails that not only tasted good but looked appealing as it came dressed in fresh flowers. But the best part of the meal was saved for the end. For desserts, we ordered the decadent Five Rivers Mud Cake that had chocolate mud cake layered with chocolate mousse. Delicious and sinful, yet we did not regret digging into it and polishing it off within minutes.
