This is the season to eat, splurge, be merry, count our gratitude, and give back to society. On a recent visit to Jamie’s Italian, a Delhi-based restaurant by UK’s celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, we tasted this joy of giving with their unique Plate for a Plate Christmas menu.

Appetisers
While the menu at Jamie’s Italian has a delectable list of nibbles and antipasti that consist of an elaborate selection of non-vegetarian as well as vegetarian plank, ravioli, and gnocchi, to name a few, the house-made black olive and sun-dried tapenade with bellisimo breads (INR 245) sets the mood. The golden fried chicken (INR 525) with jalapeño corn bread and peri-peri dipping sauce from the Christmas menu is another delicious starter.
Main Course
If you like lamb dishes , try the Tagliatelle Bolognese (INR 605). It’s a slow cooked lamb & Chianti ragù, topped with pangrattato and aged Parmesan. For us, however, the clear winner is the festive roast duck leg (INR 899). This slow-cooked meat is served with cous-cous salad, rosemary potatoes and plum sauce.
Dessert
Another clear winner is the Torta Dell’Amore (INR 395), a rich chocolate sponge with ganache, a mascarpone layered cake, fresh raspberries and pistachios. It is dense, moist and instantly melts in mouth. For something more Christmas-y with a dose of liquor, Jamie’s Rum Babà (INR 345) cake from the Christmas menu is a must-try. It is spongy, rum-soaked with Chantilly cream and topped with glazed strawberries.
Drinks
Among the plethora of mocktails available at Jamie’s Italian, the shining star is the Tropical Punch. This drink blends orange, cranberry, passion fruit, lime, mint, pineapple and grenadine with tropical lemonade. And it truly packs a tropical punch, as promised!
