Standing tall in the eye of a storm, lighthouses are probably one of the most underrated structures in the world. A lot of them have been rendered useless due to technological advancements, but that is no excuse to stop gushing over their majestic beauty. Blessed with unique architectures and gorgeous views, it is hard to believe that lighthouses have remained largely unexplored.
1. Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu

This striking beauty sits atop a rock and is carved out of natural stone. Mahabalipuram lighthouse’s rustic look paired with the spiral staircase is the epitome of peace and quiet. Nestled amongst lush greenery, this lighthouse offers the most spectacular view of Mahabalipuram!
2. Dwarka, Gujarat

Built at the Rupen creek in the 19th century, the black and white cubical Dwarka lighthouse is different from your regular lighthouse. Pro tip: visit this lighthouse at night to immerse yourself in a magical experience.

Puducherry is home to two lighthouses. The older one was built in the 19th century by French rulers, while the newer one was fully functional only by 1979. The history buff in you will love gazing at the fascinating French past visible at the iconic old lighthouse. The newer one is more modern-looking but equally stunning.
