Gummanayaka Fort

Located near Bagepalli, the ancient Gummanayaka Fort remains largely untouched by tourists, which makes it an ideal hidden gem in Karnataka. It takes two hours to drive to the fort from Bengaluru. Dating back to 1350, the fort is named after the chieftain who constructed it. Most people prefer trekking to the fort. The prime features of the fort include a multi-layered entrance, a well-planned layout, intricate carvings, erotic sculptures, and a pretty lake. There are some small temples inside the fort as well.
Devarayanadurga Hills

Fondly known as DD Hills, Devarayanadurga Hills are a great alternative to the more popular Nandi Hills. Located 72km from Bengaluru, Devarayanadurga offers great trekking opportunities. St Mary’s Island

This gorgeous island is located in the Udupi district along the coast of Malpe. Dotted with swaying palm trees and massive basalt sea rocks, the island is perfect to enjoy a restorative and calm getaway. St. Mary’s Island is also among India’s 26 geological monuments shortlisted by the Geological Survey of India. This ancient temple town located near Sirsi in Uttara Kannada served as the first capital of Karnataka during the reign of the Kadamba dynasty. The city dates back to 375 AD, and the major attraction here is its beautiful temples. The most important temple in Banavasi is the Madhukeshwara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Banavasi is also home to an ancient garden called Pampavana. The garden is said to have inspired Kalidasa to write Meghaduta.
