Elephant safaris at Kaziranga National Park in Assam is an experience of a lifetime. While jeep safari is the most popular activity among tourists at the park, elephant safari is no less enchanting. In other news, officials at the park have decided to resume elephant safaris, finally. Initially, only 37 seats are up for booking, and the park officials will ensure that all COVID-19 related safety protocols are set in place to prevent any virus outbreak.

Since the first nationwide lockdown was announced in March 2020 coupled by the unfortunate flooding in the park, the premises of this iconic biosphere had been closed until recently. Park officials confirm that ever since the reopening of the park, a large number of tourists, both domestic and international have been coming in for experiences.

Minister of Excise, Forest & Environment and Fisheries, Government of Assam, Parimal Suklabaidya also tweeted about this latest development. “Cheering news to start the day with as @kaziranga_authority has restarted the much-awaited elephant safari from today. Welcome you all to get amazed at the majestic Kaziranga,” he wrote.

Initially, the elephant safaris at Kaziranga National Park had restarted with only 10 elephants. The numbers will increase eventually based on the tourist’s responses and demand for the service. Even privately-owned elephants can be a part of these safaris at the Bagori range of the park after November 10 this year. The Laokhowa-Burachapori Wildlife Sanctuary will also reopen shortly for travellers.
