Tropical Storm Nock-ten took one life when it hit northern Vietnam on Saturday. After devastating areas of the Philippines, Vietnamese authorities took no risks by evacuating approximately 40,000 people in the provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An before the storm struck. Despite their efforts, AFP reports that a 68-year-old man was killed by electrocution when he was hit by falling electrical poles. The storm killed 52 people in the Philippines, while 27 are reported missing, but the damage in Vietnam was described by offi cials as “not considerable”.
