Sendai airport fully operational

Published on Jul 28, 2011

Sendai Airport is once again fully operational after the departures lobby reopened on Monday. The Japanese airport was closed after it was swamped by the tsunami on 11 March. After its partial reopening in April, the number of services gradually rose from six to 15 daily fl ights. With the departures lobby now fully operational, 41 regular round trip fl ights are back in action, just two short of a regular summer season according to the Daily Yomiuri. The reopening was ceremoniously marked by 100 people who observed a minute’s silence led by Miyagi Governor, Yoshihiro Murai.
International services will resume in October, when Continental Airlines' Sendai-Guam route reopens.
