Nepal’s government has ordered a new measurement of Mount Everest, according to an AP report. The country has continued to recognise the decades-old measurement of 8,448 metres, but other claims have been made recently by China and western climbers. Nepal’s Land Reforms Ministry spokesperson, Gopal Giri said yesterday that the government will now take a new measurement by placing a device on the peak that will measure the height using satellite technology.
