East Japan bullet trains to restart in April
Published on Mar 29, 2011
Bullet train services along Japan’s east coast line will restart by late April, Kyodo News reported company officials as saying yesterday. JR East said it will fully resume services on the Tohoku Shinkansen Line between Tokyo and Shin-Aomori, in the far north of Honshu Island, by the end of next month. Operations were suspended after sections of track – including several bridges - were damaged by the huge 11 March earthquake. JR East said however, that it has already completed nearly 50% of repair work.
