Angkor to get environmental audit
Published on Mar 1, 2011
The environmental standards at the Angkor Wat temple complex will come under scrutiny next month, when a Japanese organisation arrives to review the UNESCO-listed site’s green practices. The Japan Quality Assurance Organisation has been invited by the complex’s management team, Apsara Authority, and will investigate 66 areas including waste management and water pollution both at Angkor Wat and nearby Siem Reap town. If it passes the audit, Angkor will receive its Environmental Management Systems (EMS) certification in 2012.
