Komodo avoids New7Wonders disqualification

Indonesia’s Komodo National Park has avoided expulsion from the list of New7Wonders finalists, following a row between the online poll’s organisers and Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism & Culture. New7Wonders had threatened to remove Komodo from the final 28 shortlist after Indonesia refused to host an event to name the winners of the online campaign. In a decision announced yesterday, New7Wonders’ President & Founder, Bernard Weber, said that the “many encouraging and supporting requests from the public” had led to Komodo being kept on the list. It added however, that Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism & Culture had been removed as the attraction’s official supporting partner.
