Chinese airline punctuality worsens
Published on Jan 26, 2011
The punctuality of Chinese airlines has dropped to its lowest level in five years, according to recent data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Reported by the China Daily, only 76% of all flights by Chinese carriers departed on time in 2010, down from nearly 82% in 2009. The best performer of 2010 was China Eastern Airlines which saw 79.0% of its flights take-off on time. This was followed by Xiamen Airlines (78.6%), Shandong Airlines and China Southern Airlines (both 76.8%), Shanghai Airlines (75.2%), Air China (73.8%), Hainan Airlines (73.0%) and Shenzhen Airlines (71.3%). The increase in Chinese passenger traffic in 2010 was cited as a possible reason for the declining punctuality.
