Best Westerns signs first Cambodian hotel

Best Western International has signed its first hotel in Cambodia – the Suites and Sweet Resort Angkor. The all-suite resort is located less than a 10-minute drive from both Siem Reap town and the main entrance to the famous Angkor Wat temple complex. The property offers 18 suites housed in nine villas, each with their own private pool and terrace. Featuring traditional Khmer-style design and décor, the villas are nestled among tropical gardens around an ornamental lake, similar to a Cambodian floating village.
“The addition of the fascinating country of Cambodia to Best Western’s choice of destinations is a proud moment for the chain. The worldwide tourist appeal that Siem Reap holds, together with Best Western’s global networking and extensive worldwide sales and marketing power, is an ideal combination for this well-appointed property in this exotic destination,” said Best Western International’s Vice President of International Operations for Asia and the Middle East, Glenn de Souza.
Tentatively set to complete its rebranding in Q1 2011, the resort offers a restaurant serving Khmer and French cuisine, a bar and a traditional massage service.
Siem Reap, in northwest Cambodia, is served by direct flights from regional points like Bangkok, Vientiane, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Taipei, as well as the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. Tourists can also reach Siem Reap overland from Phnom Penh and Thailand.
