India to become top source market for Singapore

The top source markets for inbound tourists into Singapore in the next two years are likely to be India, Malaysia and Hong Kong, according to the Visa-PATA Asia Pacific Travel Intentions Survey 2010.
The survey, which covered more than 6,700 respondents in 13 markets in Asia Pacific, found that one in three (33 percent) travellers from India planning a vacation in the region chose Singapore as their most considered destination. Travellers from Malaysia (11 percent) and Hong Kong (8 percent) also rank Singapore high on their list of holiday destinations.
Meranda Chan, Visa's Country Manager for Singapore & Brunei, said; "With its wide range of top-class new tourist offerings, multi-ethnic population, unique cultural experiences and reputation as a food paradise, it is little wonder that Singapore is one of the most popular destinations within Asia Pacific."
