Thailand plans World Expo bid

Thailand will submit a bid to host the 2020 World Expo in the coming months, officials was reported saying this week. Akapol Sorasuchart, President of the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), told reporters on Wednesday that three provinces –Ayutthaya, Chon Buri and Chiang Mai - are being considered for the event, with a final decision to be made next month. The Thai government is reportedly looking for a suitable 2km² site. Shanghai recently held the 2010 World Expo, and the event will head to Milan in 2015.
