A new Japanese bullet train line was launched on Saturday. The Japan Times reported that the Tohoku Shinkansen Line’s first service between Tokyo and Shin Aomori, in the far north of Honshu Island, marked a 38-year wait for the track’s extension past the previous northern terminal station at Hachinohe. The day also marked the opening of Shin-Aomori Station. The new 1,085m2 terminal building will house 19 shops and restaurants.
