Oil slick fears for central Vietnam coast
Published on Dec 3, 2010
Authorities along Vietnam’s central coast are preparing for an oil slick from a shipwrecked Chinese tanker, VnExpress has reported. The local governments in Danang, and the provinces of Quang Ngai and Quang Nam, were reported saying that they are preparing a response to a potential slick, although no oil has so far been detected. The China-registered Jina Mao 9, which was carrying 100 tons of petroleum products, sank on 9 November approximately 160km off Quang Ngai.
